Fat always means unhealthy; Skinny always means healthy

Posted in Uncategorized on October 19, 2012 by scribedexi

So I was inspired to write this entry after hearing Joy Behar call Honey Boo Boo (if anyone ever reads this in the future, I am super dating myself) fat on the Wendy Williams Show. When people seemed appalled she said it was because she is worried about the child’s health. Now as noble as that seems, no one seems to worry about the health of people of “normal” or even under weight people. It seems like health is an easy scapegoat for people to use to make fun of bigger people. How do you know those bigger people aren’t in fact living a healthy life style? For those that know me, I am not a small girl, but I eat three small meals a day (at most) and exercise at least two and a half hours a week. I know skinny people that only eat cheese burgers and soda and don’t gain a pound. I think people need to look less at the person and more how they live. Now I have never seen Honey Boo Boo’s show, but I have heard that her mother does not always have the most healthy food choices. If someone were to say zee is worried for Honey Boo Boo and her family (of all sizes) because eating a lot of processed/fried/et cetera foods can lead to health problems that are seen less in people that eat more plain vegetables and foods cooked less or broiled, boiled or baked then I think that would be much less size offensive.

Even the great Dr. Oz (please note the sarcasm).. well as I always say when I see him “Dr. Oz hates fat people!” Yes, even America’s nicest doctor is a dick. He had a show where he had a number of large women, very large even. These women were happy, sexy, confident and most of all healthy. They weighed multiple times as much as I do, but had no health problems related to their weight. Dr. Oz told them that if they didn’t want help with their weight, to get off the stage right then and there… and half of them just walked off. No goodbyes, no good lucks, no I am glad you are healthy now, no handshakes, no thank you for coming on the show, just get off my stage, fattie, if you don’t want to be skinny. His rationale for kicking these lovely ladies off the stage was because being fat has risk factors of things like diabetes. You might think “Hellz yeah, being fat is dangerous!”, but everyone seems to forget that everything has risk factors. If you are White or Asian, you have a greater risk of osteoporosis. Oh man, Dr. Oz, kick Asian and White (and especially part Asian, part White) people off your stage! African-Americans are more likely to be hypertensive. Off the stage with you! Though everything has risk factors, it doesn’t mean that you will get it. When you gain ten pounds, they don’t just hand you diabetes. You can be skinny and have many of the same problems as larger people.

As an aside, I feel obligated to point out something my best friend always tells me- Body Mass Index (BMI) is an arbitrary system invented during the Victorian Era as a random relation between height and weight. Because of this, a person 5’6 who is 200 pounds is the same BMI no matter if that is a person who is all fat cells (which is impossible) or if that person is a body builder with so little fat zee’s brain isn’t even cushioned. Now that doesn’t make much sense, does it?

College- High School but with more never growing up!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 25, 2012 by scribedexi

So I am currently watching a TV show about high school students. One character stated how important high school is and what an important life step it is to graduate from high school. For some reason, my own graduating from college instantly popped into my head. At first thought, I said to myself that graduating from college is just as important and monumentous (apparently not a word) as graduating high school. I quickly corrected myself. Graduating high school is only barely like graduating college. With college, you can put off growing up forever. In college for six years? No one would think much of that. At my alma mater, last I heard, the average student graduated in five years. You could take even longer if you only took a couple of classes while working and people would think you’re industrious. Even after you graduate, you could put things off even longer. Second degree? Grad school? Take your pick! Either one, people are convinced you’re bettering yourself, not hiding out from the real world or slacking off. Now this is not to say that people who are in school, going for more degrees or graduate school aren’t doing so to better themselves, just the world of education is a safe haven, especially for people like me who started school at four and never took a break. As another May approaches and people everywhere are graduating, I wish you the best of luck, especially those who find out the real world is tough and scary and writing papers at 3 A.M. powered solely by caffeine is way more enjoyable, or atleast safe.

Top Ten Moral Dilemmas

Posted in Uncategorized on March 14, 2010 by scribedexi

http://listverse.com/2007/10/21/top-10-moral-dilemmas/

So, I found that website, which claims to have the top ten moral dilemmas. Now I was reading through them and decided to write down my reactions/what I would do.

10.  I could never be responsible for the death of my own child, so I would refuse to pull out the chair. Sorry innocent person :/

9. I’d help the lover. She clearly knew she was married and slept around, but he may not have. I’d say she is doing much more of a wrong than he is. Also the basics of triage say help him.

8. I’d look for other clues and bring them to the attention to my friend.. clues or “clues” (lying for a good reason isn’t bad IMO). I figure if I can show that she is cheating without using the information in the e-mail, then technically there is no wrong doing.

7.  Well first I would explain the importances of my daughter telling the story of what happened to her. I feel my kid being able to ID his dick is more than enough. I would have been working endlessly to make sure he got what he deserved. Now.. that being said, I loath child rapist far more than murderers of adults. Also not sure how he would be too stupid to mention he was in a restaurant where I would assume a host/hostess, person that does the seating, wait staff and many more ppl would have seen him that night.

6. WTF. Why are we blowing up ppl? I go with the idea of going out the way you get in. Also if the woman is that big, why the fuck are you letting her be the first one out of a tiny whole? That is an illogical situation that I don’t feel I would be in, unless I was the crazy knocked up chick trying to lead people to victory! Either way I bet if the dynamite can blow up a knocked up chick, it could manage a hole somewhere else.

5. I would carry my niece in and also attempt to drag my daughter in (she could grab my leg, clothes-something). I figure if she is a much stronger swimmer then she just needs to get a head start, then could make it on her own. Even if she couldn’t, that could get her far enough towards shore that someone else could meet  me and grab my niece so I could bring my daughter the rest of the way in.

4. I have to deal with the fact that I killed someone. Why would I let someone else take the blame? Doesn’t anyone take responsibility for their own mistakes anymore? I almost killed my own best friend in a car accident. As much as it hurts, I know what I did and feel regret for it constantly.

3. Okay, why am I always a guy here? Hmm.. guess I could be just married to a chick alot, that doesn’t absolutely make me a man. haha Wait, his day? He’s 18! I don’t think I’m ever going to travel. Okay, okay, umm well my kid shouldn’t have been THAT stupid (I’m a failure at fathering/moming).. but I’m not sure if I would take the blame or let my stupid son. I mean he is an adult, but just barely. I’ll let you know when I’m a mom with an 18 yr old son.

2. I’d call Briscoe and Green or Benson and Stabler…. And no, I wouldn’t hurt his wife. That just doesn’t make sense.

1. What is this, the Titanic? 1. I’d stay on the ship. 2. I would try to make arrangements with the other boats to take on more passengers. I’m also not sure where I am getting all of these calculations, but I can only assume if there is less weight on the boat then it would be sinking  less. I’d give up my seat on the other boat to the person that needed it the most.

Be nice to the trees!

Writing Thing

I awake slowly. The light through the blinds feels like the sun rising through the clouds. I hear you, breathing heavily- you’re still asleep. The blanket has fallen off of you, so your chest is bare. I watch it rise and fall with each breathe. I run my hand along your side. Your skin is soft, but cool. I curl up against you and pull the blanket over us. I lay my head against you and can hear your heart beat. It is slow and relaxed, like there isn’t a care in the world. It lulls me back to sleep. I kiss your skin and snuggle into you. You unconsciously wrap your arm around me and hold me tight. Then, then I fall asleep.

You go, Poland!

Good for you, Poland! Chemically castrate those sex offenders! I think there should be harsher punishments for alot of things, and this is definitely one of them. There is never an excuse for harming a child. NEVER. Chemical castration won’t solve the problem, but it will help. And just one less child getting harmed is a start. Save the babies, support castrating people who rape little people.
